Why should I insure my pet?

In today's modern society, our pets have become integral members of the family structure. We are a lot more emotionally attached to our pets and need to feel assured that we will always be in a position to have the best possible medical care available to them when the need arises. It is a statistical fact that your pet will, at some stage in its life, fall ill or be involved in an accident. These events do not always coincide with your ability to meet unexpected veterinary expenses that can run into may thousands of dollars. Pet health insurance provides you with peace of mind that your pet will always be able to receive the best treatment available when the need arises. Just ask yourself...."Could I afford to pay as much as $1500.00 or more tomorrow if my pet were to suddenly fall ill or suffer an injury?" back to top

Will I be restricted in my choice of vet?
No, not at all. All policies administered by PetSure make provision for pet owners to use any licensed/registered veterinary practitioner countrywide. back to top

Is it worth insuring a young pet?
Like humans, pets can fall ill at any time during their lives. In addition, young pets lack the coordination, experience and temperament of older animals and are therefore more likely in certain respects to be injured accidentally. Insuring your pet at a young age also protects you from the risk having conditions excluded as "pre-existing". Don't forget, most pet health insurance policies will not provide cover for conditions that arise before the commencement of cover (pre-existing conditions). back to top

How do I choose the right policy for me?
Each of our brands offer a range of policy options designed to accommodate the differing needs of Australian pet owners. Different cover combinations are available - ranging from accident only cover, to accident & illness cover, and the comprehensive accident, illness and routine care options. We recommend that you examine the policy Benefits & Rates Schedules and download or view the Product Disclosure Statements to satisfy yourself that whatever product you select is suited to your personal needs. These documents can be accessed by following the applicable website links. back to top

Can I purchase a policy directly from PetSure?
No, we are the underwriting agents and administrators only of the various product brands presented on this site and cannot advise you or arrange insurance directly for you. We recommend that you carefully evaluate your pet insurance options and, if you then wish to apply for insurance cover, simply follow one of the website links to your selected product brand and apply online or request that an application brochure pack is mailed to you. back to top

How are my claims settled?
Claims are settled directly with you, the client - We do not pay the vet. Your claim is processed by our efficient claims processing department as soon as we receive your completed and signed Claim Form together with the original, receipted veterinary invoice. If the treatment for which you have claimed is eligible for benefits under your policy, the benefit amount will be deposited directly into your bank account (or a cheque will be mailed to you) usually within just a few days of us receiving your claim. back to top

Is the a limit to the number of claims I can make?

No, you are entitled to claim as often as is necessary under the policies we administer, provided you have not exceeded the annual claim maximum (dollar amount) or any of the policy sub-limit amounts that may be applicable. back to top
